Liang Jian, Dedicated Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Leading Group Office for Rural Work and Dedicated Deputy Director of Provincial Administration for Rural Revitalization
Mr. Liang Jian pointed out in his speech that the establishment of the Rural Revitalization Research Institute is a positive response to the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping to promote rural revitalization in an all-round way. Located in special economic zone and as an experimental university full of opportunities, SZU is more duty-bound. The provincial party committee and the provincial government attach great importance to rural revitalization. Now they are consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation, aiming to effectively transition to rural revitalization. This is a new stage of one battle and two battlefields where the arduous rural revitalization tasks require strong intellectual and talent support, and should be cemented by achievements. Therefore it is especially necessary for colleges and universities with competence and responsibility to undertake this task. The founding of Shenzhen University Rural Revitalization Research Institute comes just at the right time with great prospect ahead. Let’s hope that the Think Tank Alliance and the Research Institute, headquartered in Shenzhen but with a nationwide perspective, can join hands to cultivate talented people, make first-class achievements, open up new worlds, and write new chapters for the beautiful rural areas.
Liu Weixiang, Director of Shenzhen Rural Revitalization and Cooperation and Exchange Bureau
Mr. Liu Weixiang indicated that the inauguration of the two organizations is a critical moment and milestone of great significance for Shenzhen’s rural revitalization. Shenzhen's rural revitalization work has achieved important results on account of the strong support from provincial and municipal departments. Rural revitalization is a game of chess across the country involving much work, and Shenzhen has done considerable practical work in east-west collaboration, counterpart support outside the province, counterpart help within the province, counterpart cooperation, and among other things. The construction of rural revitalization involves practice at multiple levels, which provides solid hands-on experience for theoretical research. It is hoped that the Think Tank Alliance and the Institute can provide theoretical support, refine experience and summarize systematically for rural revitalization, to better serve the future work of rural revitalization. We also expect the two organizations can carry out comprehensive and systematic research based on the national strategy and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, contributing Shenzhen's efforts to the national agricultural and rural modernization, and becoming a high-end platform bearing national influence.
Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University
Vice President Li Yonghua said that in order to thoroughly implement the instructions and implementation plans of the Party Central Committee, the State Council and Guangdong Province on comprehensively promoting rural revitalization, SZU bravely took up the research subjects and historic task of seeking solutions to major issues and outstanding problems of rural revitalization, and pooled the advantages inside and outside the university in preparation for the founding of Shenzhen University Rural Revitalization Research Institute, which fully highlights the political stance and mission of the university. Shenzhen University Rural Revitalization Research Institute will build an internationally influential, nationally leading and Guangdong first-class think tank for rural revitalization relying on its strengths in basic disciplines and digital economy, financial technology and other emerging disciplines, focusing on digital villages and industrial revitalization.
Li Fan, President of the Rural Revitalization Research Institute, Shenzhen University
President Li Fan introduced the preparations for the founding of the Shenzhen Rural Revitalization Think Tank Alliance and the Rural Revitalization Research Institute of Shenzhen University. Supported by colleges and universities, the Institute gives full play to the advantages of basic disciplines of theoretical economics, emerging disciplines of digital economy and interdisciplinary disciplines of financial technology at SZU. Under the guidance of provincial and municipal Administration for Rural Revitalization, the Institute is able to coordinate with governments, universities, think tanks and many other resources, and dedicate to the teaching, scientific research, talent development of rural revitalization and social services. The Institute will carry out systematic research steadily in accordance with the rural revitalization tasks set by the central government and Guangdong Province. Meanwhile, the Institute, under the overall guidance and support of the provincial and municipal Administration for Rural Revitalization, took the lead in setting up Shenzhen Rural Revitalization Think Tank Alliance so as to generate complementary effects. The Think Tank Alliance in turn supports the promotion of rural revitalization in all aspects and high-level agricultural and rural modernization with think-tank intelligence and explores a new platform and new module to serve the grand strategy of the Party and the country in the new era.
Zhang Yi, Executive President of Shenzhen Institute, Northwest A&F University
Executive President Zhang Yi, one of the first group of representatives proposed by Shenzhen Rural Revitalization Think Tank Alliance, introduced the rural revitalization experience of Northwest A&F University that had received affirmation and instruction from the central leadership, including the school-business partnerships like the science and technology experiment and demonstration station. The Institute will continue to utilize Shenzhen’s edges to build a digital agriculture experimental station. Also, a five-in-one industrial service platform will be built to meet the development needs of agriculture, rural areas and farmers. All these efforts aim to make General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on the work of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers” take root. He also believed it is the best time to establish the Shenzhen Rural Revitalization Think Tank Alliance and expressed that the Institute was honored to participate in this event as the initiator.
Shenzhen Rural Revitalization Think Tank Alliance and Rural Revitalization Research Institute of SZU were jointly inaugurated by Deputy Director Liang Jian, Director Liu Weixiang, Vice President Li Yonghua, Deputy Director Ouyang Weiguo, Prof. Tao Yitao, and Deputy Director and President Li Fan.
Before the meeting, the leaders present visited the History Museum of SZU and had an in-depth understanding of the growing footprints of SZU as a "special economic zone university" and "university of opportunities”.
