Lasting one and a half year from April, 2016 and undergoing processes including multiple rounds of material organizing, summarizing, submitting and publicizing, employer satisfaction surveys as well as problem feedback, the fourth round of discipline evaluation reflects the reality of the discipline construction of higher education as a whole. During this round of discipline evaluation, employer satisfaction surveys were conducted on a large scale for the first time. Results show that employers’ satisfaction towards graduate students achieves 98% on the whole, with many growing into elites in all walks of life and underpinning national development.
Theoretical Economics at SZU is a provincial-level key discipline of Guangdong province, with the authority to award doctoral degrees of the first-level discipline Theoretical Economics and Postdoctoral Scientific Research Workstation (PSRW) for the first-level discipline. For over a decade, it has cultivated more than 50 PhD graduates in total; a total of 98 postdoctoral fellows have worked in the PSRW since its establishment five years ago. During their stay at the workstation, 39 government-sponsored projects are awarded in total, including 4 projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation, 5 by the National Natural Science Foundation, 26 by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 2 by the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province and 2 Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Projects of Guangdong Province. Meanwhile, nearly 200 academic papers are published in domestic and international authoritative journals such as Economic Research Journal, and 4 academic monographs are published. The workstation consistently feeds high-caliber talents for the economic building and development both in Shenzhen and Guangdong Province, and has already become an important collaborative innovation platform and scientific research incubator for SZU as well as Shenzhen humanities and social sciences.
