Zhang Xiaoru, director of Shenzhen Academy of Social Sciences and chair of Shenzhen Social Science Association, Prof. Tao Yitao, vice-secretary of CPC committee of SZU, secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of SZU, and director of the CCSEZR, a key research base for humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education, and Ryoichi Koda, president of KGU, separately addressed the meeting. Joseph Thoma, present director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs of KGU presided over the opening event and the former director Judy Yoneoka chaired the seminar.
President Ryoichi Koda began his speech with an extravagant welcome to all experts and scholars from China, expressing his heartfelt gladness for the ever deepening cooperation between the two sides over the past three decades. He reckoned that not only does the win-win initiative expand international reach of both sides, but also it deepens the friendship between the two peoples. President Ryoichi Koda also extended his wish that both sides should continue to deepen cooperation in all areas so as to promote more extensive and deeper interdisciplinary exchanges between two universities.
Zhang Xiaoru, director of Shenzhen Academy of Social Sciences and chair of Shenzhen Social Science Association began his speech with hearty congratulations on the 30th anniversary of academic cooperation of both sides. He gave a brief review of achievements Shenzhen had made in academic and scientific research. He held that the academic cooperation initiated three decades ago between the CCSEZR and the Institute of Foreign Affairs of KGU, as one of the earliest international cooperation projects in social sciences in Shenzhen, had yielded fruitful academic achievements and become one of the important symbolic achievements of “Shenzhen Academia Going Global”. He sincerely wished that by taking the 30-year cooperative relationship as a new starting point, both universities would build a multi-tier cultural cooperation mechanism and more cooperation platforms, explore new cooperation models, yield more plentiful fruits and establish deeper friendship ties.
Prof. Tao Yitao, director of the CCSEZR, recalled the scene, in her speech, where then-presidents of two universities signed the declaration of cooperation, and expressed her deep admiration for those visionary pioneers. She said that the academic cooperation established between two sides was mainly to promote exchanges of academic and scientific research and teaching experience in all areas between the two universities, including students and faculties, and develop friendship ties between the two universities. Those exchange activities will further deepen mutual understanding between the two universities and make contributions to our mutual development
Both sides are willing to continue to deepen academic exchange between the two universities as well as the two research institutes, following historic trails, reaping fruits of the times and anticipating a beautiful future of cooperation.
