On November 19, an Academic Luncheon for Young Teachers of Theoretical Economics was successfully held in the conference room of CCSEZR. This exchange meeting was lectured by Assistant Prof. Ma Limei from the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR), who presented a report entitled “Low Carbon City Pilot Policies and Renewable Energy Technology Innovation: An Empirical Research Based on Spatial DID”.
Based on the panel data of 2,850 observations in 285 cities in China from 2010-2019, the paper measures the spatial correlation of renewable energy technology innovation with the help of Moran index and empirically examines the policy effects of low-carbon city policies using difference-in-differences (DID) method and spatial DID method.
In a relaxed, and open lunch atmosphere, Prof. Tao Yitao (Leader of Theoretical Economics Discipline and Director of CCSEZR), Prof. Yuan Yiming (Deputy Director of CCSEZR) and Prof. Li Fan respectively guided and demonstrated on the theoretical background of political and economic systems, the development history and current situation of low-carbon city and the measurement problems of spatial DID involved in the paper. The young faculty members of CCSEZR, Assistant Prof. Huang Yiheng, Assistant Prof. Miao Lu, Assistant Prof. Hou Jia and Assistant Prof. Lai Mianshan, had a heated discussion and full exchange of views on the problems that existed and contents that need improvement in the theoretical logic interpretation and measurement method application in their paper. The exchange meeting provided many constructive suggestions for further improvement of the results and the next step of the research work.
In order to promote the team building of talented youths in Theoretical Economics, strengthen the cooperation and exchange of young teachers, and enhance the research strength and efficiency, CCSEZR will continue to launch various forms of exchange activities to build a quality platform for the growth of young teachers.
