“Xinhua Digest” (Issue 17, 2021) reprinted the long paper “Shenzhen Miracle and Reform Wisdom of the CPC” published in the Theory section of Shenzhen Special Zone Daily on June 15 by Prof. Tao Yitao, Director of China Center for Special Economic Zone Research, Shenzhen University and President of the Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI).
Prof. Tao believes that in the century-long glorious development history of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), reform and opening-up represents a great awakening for the Party, and it is this great awakening that has nurtured the great creation of our Party from theory to practice. Reform and opening-up bears its unique historical significance as well as theoretical and practical values.
The establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) is a great initiative undertaken by the Party and the State to promote reform and opening-up and socialist modernization, while the “Incremental Reform with Chinese Characteristics” is a great exploration of the CPC. As important connotations and components of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, SEZs and the China Path will become the theoretical and ideological wealth of the CPC.
If the miracle of Shenzhen SEZ testifies the reform wisdom of the CPC, then the successful practice of China’s reform and opening-up demonstrates the power of the CPC’s ideology and path. The power of this ideology and path will be engraved in the development history of the CPC and the history of China’s reform and opening-up as a precious institutional wealth.
