On the beautiful campus of Shenzhen University, located on Shenzhen Bay, the forefront of the opening up, CCSEZR begins its big strides in the journey of exploration. It explores the reform path of the transition from planning economy to marketing economy. It explores the pattern of development from general poverty to common prosperity. With studies on special economic zones, it demonstrates the theoretical implications and realistic significance of China’s road.
CCSEZR carries out its studies on the significant theories and realistic problems in the development of special economic zones, based on China’s special economic zones. It has achieved lots of significant accomplishments with important influences. For instance, academic book, “Study on the history of China’s Special Economic Zones” is another important research result of CCSEZR in recent years. In the year of 2008, this academic book was listed as one of the 35 important books “Commemorating the 30th Year of Reform & Opening up”. It was established as “Chinese Academic Translation Project” sponsored by the Nation’s Social Science Foundation. It achieved the first-place prize in philosophy and social science, granted by Guangdong provincial government. One of the recent important representative research works “Study on the History of China’s Special Economic Zones” Prof. Tao Yitao undertook the key research project sponsored by the Nation’s Social Science Foundation in July 2010 This book won the first prize from Guangdong provincial government The CCSEZR has undertaken over 100 research projects, including key projects sponsored by the Nation’s Social Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education, Guangdong province, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology Shenzhen municipal government, World Bank, and International Center of Poverty Alleviation. CCSEZR has carried out studies in international cooperation with Kumamoto Gakuen University in Japan.
CCSEZR has achieved various high level and extraordinary research results. From 2001 to Dec. 2008, CCSEZR has published 45 academic books. It has published 280 academic papers, including 9 papers published on international journals, 18 papers winning various awards, and 28 papers providing influential policy consultancy. CCSEZR has established and regularly published collected papers named “Study on China’s Special Economic Zones” in both Chinese and English, which has considerable influences locally and internationally. CCSEZR has published yearly “Blue Book of Special Economic Zones—Report on China’s Special Economic Zones”, which has been important brand. CCSEZR has established and regularly published “Advisory Leaflet”, which has been commented by national, provincial and municipal authorities for amounts of times, attracting extensive attentions, and achieving good reputation.
