The Studies on China’s Special Economic Zones (Journal), edited by Prof. Yuan Yiming, is the world’s only academic journal focusing on research of special economic zones (SEZs) around the globe. Has been published in China in an uninterrupted run of 11 issues, the journal was founded in 2008 by the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR), Shenzhen University, a key research base for humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education. The English version was first published in 2016 by Springer, a well-known publishing group in science, technology and medicine for more than 170 years. The digital version of the journal’s first issue was downloaded up to 3,306 times, indicating not only the uniqueness and originality of academic culture in Shenzhen, but also the special quality and spirits of Shenzhen school of thought. Following its publication by Social Sciences Academic Press (China), the Studies on China’s Special Economic Zones 2018 (Journal) met with fervent response from all sectors of society and a large number of subscriptions by the World Bank, and academic institutions and universities in Korea and China, thanks to its academically leading position in the theoretical research and practical application of SEZs.
