The Studies on China’s Special Economic Zones is an academic journal sponsored by the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research, Shenzhen University (a key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China). It is the only bilingual academic journal in both Chinese and English that focuses on special economic zones as a research topic, domestically and internationally. Since its inception in 2008, the journal has been published continuously, with a total of 15 issues to date.The Chinese and English versions of the journal are published by the Social Sciences Literature Press and Springer Group, respectively. This journal has been subscribed to and collected by international organizations such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, as well as prestigious universities and research institutes at home and abroad, including Peking University and the Korea Development Institute. It has received particular attention and recognition from government officials in emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In 2023, the journal was selected as one of the collected journals of China Humanities and Social Sciences Academic Collection Evaluation, organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Science Evaluation Studies, and holds significant influence in the research on the practice and theory of China’s special economic zones.
The Studies on China’s Special Economic Zones includes sections on economic special zones, comparisons and references to such zones, and cutting-edge reviews. The download volume of the English version e-book of thejournal’s first issue in 2018 exceeded the average downloads of economics e-books published by Springer, and congratulations were received from Springer. Springer is a world-renowned publishing group with a history of over 170 years. It currently offers global editorial and publishing services, publishing over 8,000 academic books and 2,200 academic journals annually. With the help of Springer, an international academic platform, scholars and officials worldwide can easily access the latest research results, promoting the global sharing of academic achievements.
The Studies on China’s Special Economic Zones has consistently followed the principle of academic neutrality and fairness. We invite scholars from both domestic and international domains to submit their contributions. This journal welcomes contributions in various disciplines, including economics, management, political science, sociology, history, and regional studies (international relations) related to both theoretical and empirical research, as well as case-based studies. Additionally, we provide dedicated publication space for young scholars, including doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers. The manuscript’s main text should be at least 8,000 words. The review typically takes around one month. Authors will receive prompt notification upon acceptance. We do not charge any publishing fees.
