Zhang Jia and members of his delegation, entrusted by and on behalf of Professor Tao Yitao, dean of the Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI), visited Kim Rithviseth and donated 20,000 masks to Cambodia on April 17. Kim Rithviseth is Secretary of State, Deputy Director of the office of the Prime Minister’s Council of Cambodia, and chairman of the Civil Society Alliance Forum (CSAF) of Cambodia. Zhang Jia is the General Manager of the overseas department of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. (CSCEC) 4th Bureau, which is a member of the Belt and Road Business Alliance, and head of CSCEC's epidemic prevention and control team in Cambodia.
Mr. Zhang briefed Kim Rithviseth on the development of the CSCEC 4th Bureau in Cambodia and extended cordial greetings to him and the CSAF on behalf of Prof. Tao Yitao. At this critical moment in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Cambodia, the BRRI and the CSCEC will firmly be with the CSAF and the Cambodian people to jointly fight the pandemic. From now on, the CSCEC 4th Bureau would like to, under the leadership of Prof. Tao and the BRRI, integrate itself into the Cambodian society and contribute to the prosperity of the country and the well-being of the people. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhang, on behalf of Prof. Tao, sincerely invited Kim Rithviseth to have another trip to China, to visit Shenzhen University and the CSCEC 4th Bureau after the pandemic.
Kim Rithviseth extended his appreciation to Prof. Tao, the BRRI and the CSCEC 4th Bureau for their valuable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies to help the Cambodian people at this critical moment. Kim Rithviseth then reviewed the history of the cooperation between Prof. Tao, the BRRI, himself, and the CSAF. Kim Rithviseth said that based on the established profound friendship between Chinese and Cambodian leaders and under the concept of “People-to-People Bond” and “Mutual Learning Culture”, Prof. Tao and the BRRI kept close and pragmatic cooperation and thus built a solid friendship with the CSAF. As the vice president of Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation (SFIEC), Prof. Tao has visited Cambodia twice with delegations to carry out “Shenzhen x Lancang-Mekong Initiative”, which has benefited the local society and people. Kim Rithviseth has visited Shenzhen University with delegation to learn from the successful experience of China's Special Economic Zone, and the vitality of Shenzhen impressed him. The CSAF will continue to strengthen the cooperation and exchange with the BRRI to promote the exchange and development of Cambodian and Chinese non-governmental charity, and make efforts to push the pragmatic exchange between Cambodian and Chinese people forward.
The two sides agreed that they would keep injecting new driving force into China-Cambodia relationship by following the spirit of mutual respect, equal treatment and mutual benefits that jointly agreed by the leaders of China and Cambodia. In particular, they would facilitate the alignment of the development strategies of China and Cambodia and deepen bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to better benefit both countries and people.
